An Old Tuscan Doorway

This old Tuscan doorway wall art is a classic Italian mix of gorgeous terracotta bricks teamed with mellow ochre hued stones. I was drawn to the patterning and overall usage of these bricks being applied both horizontally and vertically in the construction. Either side of the sturdy wooden door a type of buttressing has been employed, that gradually returns to the main elevation of the building which seems really unusual. A small drainage outlet sits beneath the stone lintel and under the door, another interesting feature that contributes to the quirky appeal of this Tuscan doorway.
