With double doors and double archway, and a wealth of stone detailing, there are a lot of different building materials and techniques on display with this artwork. This old but beautifully preserved and impressively sized building that I have used as my inspiration has a definitely formal, yet also quite relaxed look due to the randomly shaped stones with their mellow colouring. The blind arched arcade supports the elegant overhanging upper stories, and all the keystones stand proud on the doorway, the arches, the windows and the even the corbels supporting the roof match the theme. The unusual feature window, with its tapering column above the doorway contributes to the strongly central line of symmetry, and the graceful curve of the single row terracotta bricks merely there as an additional aesthetically decorative flourish.
